In 1894, Hildebrand & Wolfmüller became the first series production motorcycle, and the first to be called, in German, a motorrad, which is a motorcycle.

The definition of a classic motorcycle is: A motorcycle which is still popular although it is no longer produced. However with current marketing and manufacturing trends many models are changed or discontinued after a few years. This would then mean that most motorcycles would be classed as classics.
